On a recent visit to Charleston, I noticed something simple yet powerful. Above the entrance to the Hotel Bennett, the words “Be Kind” are beautifully built into the structure itself—not on a removable sign or temporary banner, but part of the building’s very design.
It made me stop and think: what if kindness was built into our foundation in the same way?
In life, we often focus on our goals, strategies, and achievements. But kindness—toward ourselves, toward others—is what gives those achievements meaning. It’s the soft strength that builds trust, deepens connections, and opens doors that skill alone can’t unlock.
As a coach, I see how small acts of kindness create big shifts. They can break down walls in difficult conversations, give someone the courage to try again, or simply remind us that we’re not alone.
So today, I’m asking: what would it look like for you to make kindness a permanent part of your own “structure”? How could it be present not just in your actions, but in the way you think, lead, and live?
Because when kindness is built in, it doesn’t wash away in life’s storms—it holds everything together.
